Invest Nebraska's regional New Venture Competitions are open to start-ups as well as existing businesses. Participants must be located in the region specific to the competition, or willing to locate to that particular region. At the end of each year, a statewide competition is held in the Lincoln-Omaha area.
In 2009, Invest Nebraska has organized five local New Venture Competitions. These are:
The Western Nebraska New Venture Competition serves the Nebraska panhandle region, which includes the counties of Sioux, Dawes, Box Butte, Sheridan, Garden, Morrill, Scottsbluff, Banner, Kimball, Cheyenne, Garden, and Deuel.
The Northeast Nebraska New Venture Competition serves the northeast region of Nebraska, which includes the counties of Keya Paha, Brown, Rock, Boyd, Holt, Garfield, Wheeler, Boone, Antelope, Knox, Pierce, Cedar, Dixon, Dakota, Wayne, Madison, Stanton, Cuming, and Burt.
The Southeast Nebraska New Venture Competition serves the southeast region of Nebraska, which includes the counties of Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, and Richardson.
The Hormel Business Plan Competition serves the City of McCook, Nebraska and the communities surrounding McCook.
The York New Venture Competition serves the City of York, Nebraska.
Last, but not least, the Nebraska New Venture Competition, is a statewide competition organized at the end of each year in the Lincoln-Omaha area. The competition is open to all start-ups and existing businesses willing to base their operation in Nebraska.
